What’s the point of iyuda?

iyuda is an online community where students gather to share their collective knowledge and experience with particular academic subjects.

As a member you have access to academic material contributed by other users and have the opportunity to gain help from other students studying the same material.

As a user you have free access to the ever-growing collection of user-generated material and to our increasing user base. As a contributor to iyuda, you will not only help other users achieve their academic goals, but also earn money in proportion to the quality and popularity of your contributed material. See “how do I get paid”

That’s a cool idea. Why hasn’t someone else done this?

That’s what we said. We can’t find anyone else out there like us. There are private tutors or cumbersome pay sites, but no free sites that also pay you for your helpful content. Get help and get paid to help others!

What is the bookshelf for?

The bookshelf feature allows you to store your 4 most frequently used books for quick access each time you visit the site.

How do I add books to the bookshelf?

Go to Manuals => find your appropriate books => select add to bookshelf

What is the leader board?

The iyuda leader board recognizes the users that have contributed the most solutions to the site in the last month. All registered users are able to submit, make money and show up on the leaderboard.

How do I get on it?

Post your completed homework and keep going. To learn how to post your own solutions, click here.

Why do I have to use my “edu” address to register?

The concept of collaborative learning is still in its early stages. By using your .edu address it allows us to better facilitate the sharing of material between subjects and between schools.

I’m using manual ABC123, how do I find it?

The filter function in the iyuda manual center allows you to filter by subject, author, ISBN or book title. We have also included the manual covers to aid in finding your solution.

What is the point of supplying all of the information for each manual?

As our collection of manuals grows, it will allow you to more easily find the manuals you need.

I’m using manual ABC123, but you don’t have it. What should I do?

We started as a site mainly catering to the sciences, but soon realized that this approach could apply to all disciplines. If you need solutions for a particular manual that we don’t have, just let us know! We will create the manual and then add it to our most requested list. Solutions on the most requested list can then be accessed by all members.

How do I know what solutions have been uploaded for a particular manual?

See the information on the manual center page

What do I do if I want to upload a particular solution?

Find the particular problem number in the appropriate solution manual and then click “upload your own”

That problem already has 5 other solutions tagged to it… is it really worth uploading mine?

Of course! There is certainly more than one way to solve a problem. Users might find your problem much better at explaining a concept that it would not only help them out, but also make you money.

I think solution XYZ is… incorrect, misleading, of poor quality, not as good as mine. What can I do

We have made every attempt to only include quality material on our site. However, if you feel there is an error with some of our hosted material, please use the tool bar found on each solution page or send us a note through the “your thoughts” link and we will check it out.

What is the point of rating the solutions I’m looking at?

When problems have multiple solutions submitted, the solutions are ranked from highest to lowest average ranking on the table of contents. By ranking the solutions you use appropriately, you enable other users to find information quickly.

I want to contact a submitter, how do I do this?

Each solution has a mailto feature that allows you to send an iyuda message directly to the submitter.

I found the solution(s) I wanted… they are so tiny, how am I supposed to use that?

Use the pop out feature to view a larger copy of the solution

How do I change my profile information?

Go to “My Stuff” => Profile information

What information is visible to other users?

Other users will only know what solutions you have posted and what school you go to, thats it! We are all about protecting our members privacy.

How do I view messages I’ve received?

Go to “My Stuff” = > messages

What is the “My Assignment” feature? Why would I use it?

The My Assignment feature allows you to put those syllabi we all receive at the beginning of the semester to good use. By selecting the appropriate problems for each homework assignment throughout the semester the iyuda assignment creator will search the iyuda database for all of the problems you list. The solutions we have will go into a query that can be easily accessed whenever you need it and those solutions that have not been submitted go directly to the “most requested” list where eager submitters can take advantage of a solution’s popularity and submit it quickly. The assignment creator will inform you which solutions are available and which are the process of being acquired. Each time you visit your search query it will update, listing all available solutions as they become available.

How do I make money with iyuda?

Submitters are paid cash on a monthly basis, into perpetuity, for their contributions to the site. How much money each submitter can make varies based on the popularity and the individual quality of each submitted solution.

How much money have I made thus far?

See how much money you have made thus far in the “My Stuff” section

How do I get paid?

In order to receive your monthly payment you must have a registered PayPal address on file. The money assigned to users that do not have a registered PayPal account will accrue until a requested disbursement is made.

I didnt make as much money as I thought I would, how can I make more money?

As mentioned above, how much each user makes is a function of the demand for each solution and its individual quality and helpfulness. Submitting solutions on the Most Requested List is a great start.

How can I make this site better?

We are so glad you asked! We are very excited about this site and the opportunity it presents for students across higher academia. We believe we have made this site easy to use and easy to fill with helpful material. We welcome all suggestions, criticisms, complaints or ideas. Simply click the “your thoughts” link and shoot us your thoughts.

Why should I invite my friends to get their own accounts?

Sharing you account with a friend not only limits the amount of new material coming in, but also limits the number of unique views that help determine the revenue per submitted solution. Registration is free and only takes a second.

I have a suggestion…

We would love to hear it. Please take a second and send it through the “your thoughts” section

I’d think this site would be better if…

Lay it on us… Click “your thoughts”

I used your site and still flunked my test… what gives?

iyuda is by no means a replacement for studying. We at iyuda see this site as the missing tool from our college experience. So many times we had professors that would test our understanding of material through quizzes and tests that were very similar in nature to homework problems. Numerous times we would arduously work through homework assignments not knowing if we were heading in the correct direction. It may help that we often waited until the last minute to start studying… but we’re not going to start preaching to the choir. We feel that using iyuda in addition to a regimented study routine can greatly enhance your understanding of the material. By no means was this site created to help you shirk your classroom responsibilities.

My friends say that using iyuda is the same as cheating… will you talk to them for me?

Although we vehemently disagree with your friends, we will not speak for them, but what we will say is that there will always be individuals that disagree with a certain approach because it is new or different. Going against convention can often put people in uncomfortable situations, but as long as you are confident that your decisions to use our site do not violate any honor codes, academic contracts, or similar agreements between you and your particular academic institution why should it matter to others how you learn the material? We will spare you a speech regarding how the “real world” works… but will say this. You’re an adult. Set standards for yourself and learn the material however best serves you.

Can I do this… or that? It wasn’t discussed in this help page.

We are constantly developing this site to meet and exceed the needs of our users. This help page will be continually updated, but if you feel that your thorough search of these scenarios still leaves your question unanswered, then by all means contact us. We would love to help you resolve any issues you are having with our service.
